Cancer Survivors Gather at La Crosse Center

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Cancer survivors of all ages gathered at the La Crosse Center Tuesday night for a celebratory picnic.

The 23rd annual Celebrate Life Picnic was held in the Center's South Hall. About 1,200 cancer survivors enjoyed food, entertainment, music, and a chance to socialize with fellow survivors.

Kristy Kugler, who's 5-year-old son Jonas is a cancer survivor, said the event is fun because it brings together cancer survivors, a unique group of people.

"It gives you a sense of community because cancer is a very isolating disease," she said.

Gundersen Health System and Mayo Clinic Health System- Franciscan Healthcare partnered with local businesses to make the picnic possible.
