LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - A growing issue in our society is adult children taking care of their aging parents. That topic was among those addressed at a conference today at the Cartwright Center at UW-L.
Health providers and educators learned about research into a variety of issues, such as elders living and being taken care of by their children, as well as ways to unstress while working a job and taking care of parents.
Amy Goyer, an AARP Care Giving Expert, says the best way to be a care giver to others is to be able to take care of yourself. Many people try to help other but forget that they need to fulfill their own personal needs as well.
The AARP has many tips and online support for people who may be going through hard times while trying to support themselves and their parents.
