LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Live music will continue to be played at a local bar despite repeated complaints by neighbors.
The La Crosse City Council approved an outdoor cabaret license for Stolpa's Stein Haus at 324 Jay Street Thursday night by a 9-6 vote. The bar's previous license had expired.
Both owner Chris Stolpa and the neighbor spoke to members of the council. Afterward they shook hands and appeared to be more at ease with the situation.
"We have nothing against Ms. Carol and Mr. Ott. I don't believe they have anything against us," Stolpa said. "I just think sometimes personal things can get in the way and I think if we can work with Gorman, work with the Horizon Management Group, work with them so that we can both be in the downtown area and be happy, that's really the main goal."
A few members of the council tried to push the vote to next Monday, saying Stolpa had not cooperated with the neighbors to try and reduce the amount of noise on Friday and Sunday nights. Other members disagreed and asked Mayor Tim Kabat for the vote to proceed.
