Cochrane-Fountain City Advances To 1st State Softball Title Game


La Crosse, WIS. (WXOW) --------------- Cochrane-Fountain City made their first State Softball appearance count, defeating Ithaca 4 to 1 to advance to the Division 4 state title game.

The Pirates used a 3-run 3rd inning to break open the game. Abbey Killian opened the scoring with a single center, then Mikayla Hulburt singled to center to score Kashes Franz, who pinched ran for Killian, and finally Sierra Rodgers doubled to left to score CFC's 3rd run of the game.

All of the Pirates production in the inning, came with 2 outs.

"When they get themselves out on the field the butterflies go away pretty darn quickly and these girls accomplished a lot today and have given themselves the opportunity to accomplish a lot tomorrow," said Head Coach Steve Lyga.

In the circle, Killian was again terrific for CFC, throwing a complete game 4-hitter while striking out 9 Ithaca hitters.

Cochrane-Fountain City will play for the school's first State Softball Championship on Saturday morning.
