SPARTA, Wis. (WXOW) Sparta Police have arrested a man and are seeking charges against another man for illegally tattooing children.
Police arrested Logan Tormoen, 24, from Sparta and they are also looking into charges against Andrew Turnmire, 20, from La Crosse.
Police said the department started an investigation on Tormoen and Turnmire in late May after they received a tip alleging several students who attend Sparta Alternative Independent Learning School had received tattoos at an apartment in downtown Sparta. Police discovered five teens between the age of 16 and 17 had received a tattoo for $5-$30 dollars. The teens told police Tormoen and Turnmire were the artists.
In Wisconsin, state law requires anyone under the age of 18 to have parental permission in order to get a tattoo. Police said the teens did not have permission from their parents.
Tormoen was arrested on June 12th. Police said Turnmire has not been located. Charges are being sought through the Monroe County District Attorney's office.
