Man wanted in theft spree has ties to Vilas County
CHIPPEWA FALLS (WAOW) – A man released from prison just days ago is a suspected of stealing three vehicles during a crime spree in western Wisconsin and possibly fleeing to Vilas County in northern Wisconsin, authorities said Tuesday.
Eric “Buck” Hall, 38, is wanted in the theft of vehicles in River Falls and Chippewa County late last week, the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department said. One of the vehicles had a rifle and a shotgun with ammunition.
Investigators believe Hall could flee to Eagle River regarding a custody dispute with a woman involving a 2 1/2-year-old child, said Investigator Chris Kowalczyk.
As of early Tuesday afternoon, Hall had not been found and there were no leads out of Vilas County, Kowalczyk said. Hall also has some ties to St. Paul Park, Minn., he said.
Police captured an image of Hall putting fuel in the stolen vehicle from River Falls at a travel center in Cadott late last week.
“We don't know where he is at,” Kowalczyk said. “Hall has a long past history of burglaries and vehicle thefts.”
Hall was released from prison June 10, according to an advisory issued by the Wisconsin Crime Alert Network.
