La Crescent community knits for a cause

LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WXOW)-- To celebrate World Wide Knit in Public Day, knitters of all ages gathered at the La Crescent Public Library.

Instead of purely knitting for pleasure, volunteers decided to knit something to donate.

This year, volunteers created afghans for pediatric surgery patients at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

Each blanket is composed of seven rows knitted by different people.

The library hosts their knitting club the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

They encourage anyone who is interested in knitting, regardless of experience, to join.

To knit more blankets, the library is accepting cash or yarn donations.
