Brazilian film crew wants to shoot mayflies on the Mississippi

Posted: Updated:

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) - A Brazilian film crew has asked the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for permission to shoot the annual mayfly hatch on the Mississippi River.

A photographer, sound technician and producer would be working the river between Trempealeau and Lynxville the second week in July.

The La Crosse Tribune says Fish and Wildlife Service employees would assist the crew. GLOBO TV says the mayfly footage is part of an ongoing segment on nature and conservation practices around the world.
