APPLETON, Wis. (WXOW) Jefferson took advantage of 4 Viroqua errors in a 10-0 win in five innings in the Division 2 championship game Thursday.
Just 3 of the 10 runs Jefferson scored were earned runs. Kevin Krause kept the Blackhawks bats silent too. The Jefferson pitcher picked up the complete game win by giving up just 4 hits and striking out 5.
"We hurt ourselves. When Tyler throws we have to field the ball. We didn't. But then you have to score a few runs and we didn't either," said Viroqua head coach Pete Swanson.
"29 years since Viroqua has been here. We've had a heck of a run. We have nothing to be upset about. They're a good team. We just didn't get enough hits today to finish the job," said 3rd baseman Tanner Elbert.
Jefferson wins their first ever state baseball title while Viroqua brings home the silver trophy, finishing the season with a 23-7 record.
