La Crosse, WI - LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - A Coon Valley man want to change his guilty plea on a child abuse charge.

22-year-old Robert Schmidt was supposed to be sentenced today for abusing his eight month old daughter last July.

The sentencing was delayed while Judge Horne considers the request to have his guilty plea withdrawn.

Schmidt originally claimed she had hit her head on her crib, but later explained that he was angry when she was crying and struck her with his elbow when he went to check on her.

A court date has yet to be set to see whether or not his guilty plea will be withdrawn.
