UPDATE: La Crosse man in jail after stabbing incident

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The La Crosse man stabbed in a Northside apartment last weekend is now in jail and facing multiple charges.

Joshua Reetz, 25, faces charges of stalking, substantial battery, disorderly conduct, and trespassing.

According to court records,  Reetz forced his way into an apartment on Island Street around 8:30 p.m. Saturday and punched the man inside repeatedly.

The man being attacked stabbed Reetz multiple times with a knife in self-defense. According to police reports, Reetz and the man knew each other previously.

Reetz is scheduled to appear in court next week.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - We now know more information on the stabbing Saturday night on La Crosse's northside.

It happened at 1111 Island Street at about 8:30 p.m.

Police say a 25-year-old La Crosse man broke into an apartment carrying a gun. The person living in the apartment told police he stabbed the intruder with a knife in self defense after they got in a fight.

Police haven't yet released the names of those involved. 

The intruder was taken to the hospital and currently receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The victim was injured, but did not need medical treatment, according to police.

La Crosse Police Sergeant Randy Rank said when the suspect is released from the hospital he could face charges of burglary, substantial battery, disorderly conduct, and violating probation.

LA CROSSE,Wis. (WXOW) - La Crosse Police are investigating a stabbing on the city's northside which left one person with life-threatening injuries.

Police were called to 1111 Island Street around 9:00 p.m. for the stabbing. Stating its an ongoing investigation, all police would say is that they were dispatched to the location for a stabbing.  No other details are being released at this time.

A spokesperson for Tri-State Ambulance tells News 19 that one person was taken by ambulance from the scene with what were described as life-threatening injuries. 

As of Sunday evening, La Crosse Police have not released any additional information on the incident.
