WAUSAU, Wis. (WXOW) - The La Crosse Loggers extend their winning streak to six games with a 3-1 victory on the road against the Wisconsin Woodchucks.
All the scoring for both teams happened in the early innings. In the top of the second, Luke Persico got on with a single. The next batter, Ryan Kirby, reached when the Chucks first baseman, Brendon Hayden, committed an error. Both runners advanced off a fly ball foul by Adrian Chacon. Then Nick Bevacqua smacked a single that scored Persico. Kirby scored when Brody Weiss hit into a fielders choice.
Hayden got some redemption in Wisconsin's half of the second when he reached on an error by Nash Knight. He would eventually score what turned out to be the Woodchucks only run of the night.
Mike Nadratowski plated the Loggers other run in the top of the third off a Ryan Kirby single.
La Crosse's Brian Keller got the win with a solid performance on the mound. He went 8 1/3 innings Sunday night. He gave up four hits and notched seven strikeouts for the team. Marc Frazier got the save.
La Crosse is now 18-8 for the season. Both teams play again in Wausau Monday night.
