LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The La Crosse Care Center is expanding. The center, opened in 2010, provides rehabilitation services for those dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues.
The center will now be able to house 10 people at a time, as opposed to five. They are also adding a video conferencing system, so patients can have direct communication with their doctors. The center will also now have electronic health records, which enhances and improves their service, according to Tom Engels, Director of Business Development for Tellurian.
Engels said "A consumer here, a patient here, who wants to talk to his or her psychiatrist, will be able to interact, ask them questions...so this is a very time efficient and effective way to communicate without traveling great distances."
In 2013, the Care Center helped rehabilitate nearly 400 patients.
