Hammond thinks Winona star can play in NBA

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WXOW) Alec Brown's NBA draft hopes probably rely on the 2nd round on Thursday night.

The Winona, Minnesota native had his final pre-draft workout yesterday in Cleveland for the Cavs, who have the 3rd pick in that 2nd round.

The Bucks have three second round selections, but they did not work out the former UW-Green Bay star. But general manager John Hammond is certainly familiar with Brown's game and it is good enough to have his name called Thursday night.

"There is value in a 7-footer who can shoot the ball. I thought he had great postseason workouts, shot the ball really well. And I would not be the least bit surprised to see him go in the second round; but who knows what will happen at the end of the day," Hammond said during his pre-draft news conference Wednesday.
