La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The Municipal Parking Utility Board is exploring ways to bring more revenue to the city of La Crosse.

One of the main topics was on parking permit fees for reserved parking spaces around town.

As of right now fees for 24 hour parking permits are $35 a month, and parking spots from 6 AM to 6 PM are $25 a month. The board says that it is about time for a parking permit price increase since the price has been the same since 1996. Parking permits never changed with inflation.

The proposal is to raise the permit price by at least $10 for the 24 hours spots and $5 for the 6 AM to 6 PM spots.

This is only a proposal as of now but if voted on, it could take effect as early as January 1st, 2015.
