TREMPEALEAU, Wis. (WXOW) - The Trempealeau County Sheriff's department is warning citizens about a possible scam in the area.
Sheriff Richard Anderson said a group of people are claiming to be a professional blacktopping and seal coating company. The Sheriff said the group has been contacting residents door to door and offering to seal-coat driveways at a reduced rate. The company is claiming to have extra material from other jobs and they just want to get rid of the extra product.
Sheriff Anderson said people are complaining that the company had inflated pricing, poor job quality, no warranty/guarantee and no bill of sale or contract.
Sheriff Anderson said if you are contacted by a home improvement company, reputable companies will complete a work order along with a written contract or agreement on the work to be performed and cost.
