LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) One of the first children to receive help from Children's Miracle Network Hospitals at Gundersen Health System is celebrating a milestone.
Eric Schroeder turned 40 on June 12th. Eric has spina bifida. He had his first of more than 30 surgeries when he was just 9 hours old. Eric and his family started receiving help from CMNH in 1988. Although he's no longer a "kid", Eric says he still appreciates all CMN has done for his family and others.
Eric has been confined to a wheel chair most of his life. He is very independent. His longtime nurse says Eric's positive attitude is inspiring.
You may have seen Eric at the Lumberyard. He's a huge fan of the Loggers. Eric hasn't made it to a game this year, because of some health issues, but he's hopeful he will make it to a game before the season is over.
