WINONA, Minn. (WXOW/KTTC) -- Two men from La Crosse were caught in a prostitution sting operation staged Wednesday and Thursday by law enforcement agencies in Winona.

The Winona County Sheriff's Office, along with other police agencies, posted an online ad and an officer pretended to be a 15-year-old girl offering sex for cash.  Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said the ad was posted Wednesday, and that on Thursday afternoon, two men each answered it and tried to complete the transaction in Winona and meet the "15-year-old girl" for sex.

Ganrude identified the men arrested as Bret Emmel, 58, of La Crosse and Dennis Jandt, 66, also of La Crosse.

Both men appeared in Winona County Court Friday morning where each was charged with one count of Prostitution Patron – Hire 13 to 15 Year Old, a felony according to online court records.

The Winona County Attorney's office filed forfeiture cases against each man to seize the vehicles used to drive to Winona.

Court records show Emmel and Jandt are scheduled for their next court appearance July 17.
