ONALASKA (WXOW) - Threats of severe storms have caused organizers to cancel Festival Foods Salute to the Fourth fireworks show scheduled for Sunday at 9:30 p.m.
Sunday night's show was originally scheduled for Saturday, but organizers postponed after strong gusts of wind and heavy rains overtook the area.
Reports from the National Weather Service indicate more threatening storms will hit the area Sunday night.
Organizers made the decision with the assistance of the Onalaska Police Department. In a news release, Onalaska Police Chief Jeff Trotnic said, "The potential for severe weather including heavy rain, damaging winds, and hail, would be a risk to the public's safety."
Event organizers are looking at options to reschedule the show, again.
