LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – When drivers tried to drive through 13th street near Main Street on Sunday, they may have been stopped by a unique road block.
Heavy winds pushed a massive tree across the road—and took part of a sidewalk with it, creating a significant barrier for some pedestrians, while blocking one homeowner's driveway.
Tree branches filled streets all throughout La Crosse this weekend. Some trees fell on top of homes and vehicles, as city and highway crews spent Sunday cleaning up the damage.
Strong winds also tore through parts of a warehouse near the corner of Lake Shore Drive and Airport Road. Wind spread debris from the inside and outside of the warehouse, such as insulation, throughout the parking lot, against the La Crosse Regional Airport security fence, and into the airfield.
La Crosse Fire Department said there were no reported injuries from Saturday night's severe weather, and there were no reports of condemned buildings.
