LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The La Crosse Loggers can still capture the South Division title for the first half of the season with a couple of wins on Monday.

After losing 15-1 the night before, La Crosse helped their cause Sunday with a 5-3 win over the Battle Creek Bombers.

The Loggers got things rolling in the first with three runs. Mike Nadratowski lead off with a double.  He scored when teammate Kevin Zak swatted a double. Next up, Austin Rei hit a single that scored Zak. Rei crossed home on a single by DH Luke Persico.

The team plated two more runs in the third. Mike Nadratowski scored on a double by Austin Rei. Kevin Zak made it a 5-0 lead when he made it home on a sac fly by Jerrod Bravo.

Battle Creek cut the lead in the bottom of the fourth when they scored two. They only managed one more run, in the bottom of the ninth.

Kevin Roy got the win for the Loggers.  He gave up the two runs on six hits in six innings for La Crosse. Jacob Dorris pitched two innings of one hit ball before Breckin Williams came on in the ninth.  He gave up the one run, but still got the save.

In a unique double header on Monday, the Loggers play Madison at Warner Park at noon.  Once that game concludes, both teams hit the road to finish the double header at the Lumberyard. Game time at Copeland Park is 7:05 p.m.

South Division leader Lakeshore Chinooks have a two game lead heading into Monday.  They play a double header against Kenosha.
