LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Riverfest is canceling some of their events this week due to the Mississippi River level.
The Mississippi River at La Crosse is expected to remain above flood stage at 13 feet through Riverfest which starts Wednesday, July 2. Riverfest President Nick Bjerke said the flooding conditions bring safety concerns including debris in the water and conditions where wake from boats can damage the surrounding shorelines. Because of these safety concerns, Bjerke said they have decided to cancel the River City Water Ski show and the Fly Board Xtreme. Both events were scheduled to run Thursday and Friday.
