LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW)- As part of efforts to bring several employment programs under one roof and enhance customer service delivery, the La Crosse Job Center has moved from it's current location on the Western Technical College Campus to the East Ward Commerce Center at 2615 East Ave South.
The Workforce Development Center opened for business at 8:00 a.m. on Monday. The DWD Division of Vocational Rehabilitation also moved its La Crosse office to the new Center. The new location offers several advantages for customers and taxpayers beyond bringing several employment programs under one roof. The new Workforce Development Center is close to public transportation, provides ample adjacent parking for staff and visitors. Beth Sullivan, Manager of the Workforce Development Board said, "You don't have to come in and get a parking permit. You can just park and come on in so we are really excited that this is going to work a lot better for our clients." The new center also has ground-floor space for workforce programs serving job seekers, dislocated workers, veterans, people with disabilities and other customers.
An advantage that Sullivan is most looking forward too is the resource center. She stated, "I am really excited. The resource room itself is bigger and more well laid out for the clients and it gives more access to the front desk. The front desk can see what's going on and help people when they need it. This resource room is one of the best in the state from what we hear."
