LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) -- The Loggers fell 4-3 in game two of a doubleheader against Madison to cap off a Monday sweep at the hands of the Mallards.
La Crosse dropped game one by a 2-1 final in Madison earlier in the day. The teams then traveled to Copeland Park for an evening finish at the Lumberyard.
In the nightcap, the Loggers struck first. Jack Meggs blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the 1st inning to give La Crosse a 1-0 lead. Madison answered right back in the top of the 2nd with two home runs to make it a 2-1 Mallards advantage.
Madison extended the gap in the 3rd. Austin Barr singled into left field scoring Alex Bacon from third. La Crosse worked the score back to a 4-3 deficit, but were unable to come any closer.
With Monday's losses, La Crosse finished the first half of the Northwoods League season at 21-14, good enough for second place in the South Division.
