LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The La Crosse County Health Department is launching their Farmers' Market Challenge July 7. The goal of the challenge is to visit a farmers' market and buy fresh produce each week for four weeks.
Each week will focus on a different flavor, including sweet, bitter, sour, and salty. Participants will fill out a farmers' market log, and participants that submit their log will be eligible for prizes. The La Crosse County Health Department will also email participants with suggested recipes for each week's flavor. Participants who actively commute to the farmers' market three out of the four weeks will be eligible for extra prizes.
The La Crosse County Health Department said that the challenge will encourage participants to enjoy more fruits and vegetables, decrease their carbon footprints, and meet local farmers.
