La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - La Crosse WI (WXOW) - La Crosse is slowly growing a food truck population throughout the community.

The Judiciary and Administration Committee met to vote on a variety of issues, the food truck vendors being one of them.

As of right now food truck vendors can park where ever they like as long as they have permission from property owners and businesses within a 200 ft radius. This rule however, does not apply to the downtown area, which some local establishments are worried about. The main worry is that the food trucks take away business from establishments that pay property taxes.

As of right now food truck vendors only need to pay a $50 annual fee in order to run their business. This is something that caused concern because the payment is so low. The yearly fee however was not the issue being voted on but may be brought back up on a later date.

The committee voted to remove the exception of the downtown area, this means that food truck vendors will have to get permission from the businesses they choose to set up by.
