Wally Ellenson's transfer to Marquette sparks debate about brother Henry's future

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Basketball and track standout Wally Ellenson made headlines a few years ago during his high school days. Now, he's making headlines again in college.

Ellenson is transferring from the University of Minnesota to Marquette University. He'll participate in both basketball and track at the school his father John Ellenson played for.

The bigger story here might be about his younger brother Henry Ellenson, who is entering his senior year at Rice Lake High School. Henry is being recruited by a number of colleges nationwide, including Marquette.
Wally Ellenson said he would love to play with his younger brother at some point during his final two years of eligibility in basketball.

"You know, I'm a brother first and I got to look out for him and what's best for him," Wallly Ellenson said. "It's really his decision, I've made mine. I know Marquette's a great fit, great program, but he still needs to make his own decision."

Among the schools interested in Henry Ellenson are Minnesota, North Carolina and Duke.

As Wally Ellenson, he said he felt comfortable right away with the Golden Eagles coaching staff, but never thought he would end up playing for the same school his father did.

"Whole new generation, whole new setup. It's pretty funny," he said. "I always had a Marquette pillow on my bed and it was my dad's throwback t-shirt with Ellenson 4 on the back. But I never thought I would go there."
