Kane St. Garden suffers little storm damage

LA CROSSE, Wis.  (WXOW) -  The Kane Street Community Garden suffered little storm damage regardless of recent severe weather throughout the La Crosse area.

There were minor damages to crops with the worst being a flourishing weed population thanks to heavy rain fall.

Garden volunteers still plan to reach their goal of 30,000 pounds of produce by the end of the season.

Broccoli, cabbage, and other leafy greens are currently being harvested.

Produce is available to anyone in need throughout the community through the Hunger Task Force.

For fresh produce, coordinator Todd Huffman recommends visiting harvest hours at the garden rather than waiting for produce to arrive at the Hunger Task Force warehouse.

Everyone is encouraged to volunteer at the garden and enjoy it's produce for free.

Harvest Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday
    • 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday
    •  9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
