WAUSAU, Wis. (WXOW) - After blowing a six run lead in the seventh inning, the La Crosse Loggers scored three times in the 10th inning to beat the Wisconsin Woodchucks 10-7 Saturday night.
Austin Rei provided the go-ahead RBI single with the bases loaded in the top of the extra frame for La Crosse, who improved to 3-1 in the second half of the Northwoods League season. Ryan Kirby followed with a fielders choice to plate a second run, and Luke Persico grounded out to deliver the third run.
La Crosse led 6-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Wisconsin rallied for seven runs on seven hits, all with two outs. Loggers starter Kevin Roy surrendered six of them, blemishing what was a solid outing to that point.
La Crosse tallied 15 hits in the game. Three players - Jack Meggs, Ryne Birk, and Luke Persico - each had three hits. Rei had two hits and three RBI.
The Loggers return to Copeland Park Sunday for a two-game series with Battle Creek Bombers.
