LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) The Loggers lost for the first time at home during the second half of the regular season when a late rally came up short Sunday.

Battle Creek won 9-6 at The Lumberyard.

It was a see-saw affair that had the Loggers jump out to a 4-1 lead.

But then the Bombers scored 8 straight runs after the 5th inning to grab a 9-4 lead.

La Crosse scored twice in the 9th to cut it to 9-6 and had the bases loaded with two outs.

But Mitch Bevacqua grounded into a force out to end the game.

Luke Persico went 2 for 2 for the Loggers with two runs batted and a stolen base.

Nash Knight, Ryne Birk and Brody Weiss had two hits each for La Crosse.

The Loggers fall to 3-2 in the second half, 24-16 overall.
