LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Twenty-seven exchange students from La Crosse's sister city in France are immersing themselves in American culture this summer.
For three weeks, french high school students from Epinal will stay with the families of students studying french in La Crosse, Onalaska and Holmen.
It's a way for them to practice their English and learn more about the way Americans live.
Monday night the host families organized a picnic at Myrick Park.
"We try to expose them to as much as we possibly can about the American culture cause that's the idea -- to have the experience of America. Where we eat, where we go, what is our daily living like, how do we interact as a family? So it's important that we give them that opportunity,” said Colleen Cudo, a host mom.
Next summer, the students in La Crosse, Onalaska and Holmen will spend four weeks in France with the family of the French students spending this summer in the Coulee Region.
