ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) - Plans for a major remodeling project at two of Onalaska's elementary schools won approval from the Common Council.
The council unanimously approved a permit for the remodeling and expansion of Northern Hills Elementary and Irving Pertzsch Elementary.
Final design layouts are still not fully decided on, but will be voted on later in the month. Northern Hills wants to increase the number of classrooms, and Irving Pertzsch will be converting the old gymnasium into classrooms while adding a new up to date gym to the building.
The projects are possible thanks to a $16 million school referendum passed in February. Construction will begin in early September.
