LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW)- La Crosse Promise presented a free workshop Wednesday designed to help recent La Crosse high school graduates prepare for college life.
The workshop, called "So You're Going to College" was at the Black River Beach Community Center in La Crosse. The workshop was open to recent high school graduates and other college students who are residents of the School District of La Crosse, as well as their parents.
The workshop provided answers to students' remaining questions about preparing to go to college, whether they are moving into a dorm or staying at home. Questions such as, "How do I obtain a parking permit?" "How do I select me classes?" and "Do I really need to pack shower shoes?" were all answered. In addition to Great Lakes staff, current students from Wisconsin colleges and universities were also on hand.
The workshop was funded by a Commit to College Grant from Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation. It is part of a summer-long program, designed to help students follow through with their plans to attend college in the fall.
