Persico making smooth transition to Northwoods League

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) Several players have had a hand in the Loggers fast start to the second half of the season.Luke Persico is one of them.

Persico has been at the center of many Logger rallies since his arrival June 18th.

In 14 games he's hitting .377.

In fact, the first pitch he saw in the Northwoods League he hit for a home run.

The 6'2" 170 pound outfielder from UCLA has made his mark already in La Crosse.

"I heard there's a lot of good pitching, lot of big arms, lot of big bats, so I think it's pretty comparative to the Pac-12," Persico said.

"I love it (in La Crosse), fans are great. It's a great atmosphere every night and that's always fun to come out here and play."

"Given his size, his lankiness, he's pretty athletic. So, he's got the whole package. He continues to get better. I'm excited for him," said Loggers manager Jason Nell.

Persico has 20 hits in 14 games to go along with two home runs and 14 runs batted in.
