La Cosse Police Department to have extra officers on patrol

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Drivers and pedestrians will get extra scrutiny from La Crosse police officers Thursday until Saturday.

It's all part of the High Visibility Pedestrian and OWI Enforcement grant received by the La Crosse Police Department.

Extra officers were out on patrol Thursday from 3pm to 6pm near the intersection of Rose and Logan streets to make sure drivers pedestrians are obeying traffic laws and obey pedestrian signs and crosswalks.

On Friday and Saturday, the department will have extra officers on duty to look out for OWI offenders throughout the city.

Its all an effort to limit traffic and pedestrian accidents and to keep the public safe from drunk drivers.
