Madison stadium to be site of bomb simulation

Posted:
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Authorities will simulate a bomb attack in or near Camp Randall stadium in Madison next week as part of the largest emergency-response simulation the state has ever seen.

The exercise Thursday will involve some 400 people from 20 agencies and aims to test how well the police, hospitals and first responders coordinate during a major emergency.

Neighbors are being warned about the exercise, and the road in front of the stadium will be closed for 12 hours.

University of Wisconsin-Madison police spokesman Marc Lovicott says the simulation will be realistic. Actors will be made to look like victims and tactical teams will search for perpetrators.

Barbara Behling of the American Red Cross says this will be the largest Wisconsin simulation she's seen.
