Sheriff's deputy knocked to ground by pickup truck in Wabasha Co.
ELGIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Wabasha County Sheriff's Deputy was assaulted by a person driving a pickup truck in Elgin early Saturday morning.
Sheriff Rodney Bartsh said it happened about 2:40 a.m. when the deputy was on foot patrol in the village. The sheriff said the deputy had ordered the driver to stop, but was knocked down by the pickup. The deputy, who has not been identified, was taken by Elgin Ambulance to Mayo Clinic-Saint Marys in Rochester. There was no immediate word on his condition.
Sheriff Bartsh said a suspect was arrested and is being held at the Wabasha County Jail. Charges are being sought for Fleeing and 4th Degree Assault on a Peace Officer.
