AKRON, Iowa (WXOW) - An autopsy has been completed on the elderly northwest Iowa couple found dead in their home last week, but officials aren't releasing many details about the case.

Eighty-three-year-old Don Neunaber and 80-year-old Esther Neunaber were both found dead in their home Wednesday. Authorities say the circumstances were suspicious and the couple may have died up to two weeks earlier.

The couple's adult son, 44-year-old Jon Neunaber, was taken into custody in La Crosse as a material witness but hasn't been charged. He lived with his parents. On Friday, he waived his extradition and agreed to return to Iowa.  He is no longer listed in the online records for the La Crosse County Jail.

Family members had been planning to celebrate the couple's 50th wedding anniversary this weekend, but now they must plan a funeral for Don and Esther Neunaber.
