Renovation starts for La Crosse Police lobby

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW)- Starting Monday, the La Crosse Police Department lobby is undergoing a security and access renovation.

The project is expected to last until mid-September.

The goal of the work is to provide better access and security for visitors and members of the department.  Improved access for people with disabilities is included in the work.

The department also plans to add security cameras and improve security for department records. 

During the renovation, access to the lobby area will be limited.  In a statement, the department suggests the following:

1) In an emergency, DIAL 9-1-1

2) In a non-emergency situation requiring the presence of an officer, dial the non-emergency dispatch number at (608) 785-5962

3)Records Division personnel will be available via phone at (608) 789-7227, or by visiting the 5th Floor Conference Room between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday-Friday to help with requests for copies of records, reports, or background checks; applications for various licenses or permits; or for general questions

4) To schedule fingerprints, contact Professional Standards /Community Services at (608) 789-7240 - they will provide special instructions for your appointment

5) The Drug Drop Box will be unavailable during this time. Please check with other La Crosse County law enforcement agencies for availability of their Drug Drop Boxes
