Search for missing person turns up extra items

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - During the search for a missing man two weeks ago in the Black River, one of the search and rescue boats taking part in the search found some objects of interest at the bottom of the Black River.

The La Crosse Dive Unit and a boat called, "Bruce's Legacy," used advanced sonar technology to find an upside down car. It was discovered beneath the Julia Belle Swain steamboat near Copeland Park. As of right now it is not confirmed if it has been removed due to its risk of removal and the daylight the dive unit had left.

A mysterious object was also found which the sonar could not get a clear picture of. It was speculated to be a downed boat, but turned out to be an older van. The van was removed from the bottom of the river since it was in a much easier location to get too.

It has not yet been determined how long each vehicle was under water but both have license plates on them which will lead police to the owners.
