LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) -Republican candidate for Congress Tony Kurtz said he wants to be a voice for veterans.
Wednesday, Kurtz held a listening session at the American Legion in La Crosse to hear from veterans about their experience with local VA hospitals.
Kurtz said he's heard both positive and negatives about veteran care, and wants to make sure veterans feel that their opinions are valued.
"I spent 20 years in the military. Veteran issues are very passionate to me, the men and women who serve this country, that are serving this country, they deserve the best and we have good healthcare here in Tomah and we want to keep it that way."
As part of his campaign, Kurtz also visited Sparta, Tomah, Viroqua, and Richland Center. He is running against Democratic Congressman Ron Kind in the primary August 12th.
