Mississippi River Rentals owner in custody for mental evaluation
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The Mississippi River Rentals owner who is charged with theft has been taken into custody for a mental competency evaluation.
Michael Fuchsel, 39, is charged with 14 counts of business theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a criminal complaint, Fuchsel owes clients more than $7,000 for services they paid for but did not receive.
A forensic unit performed a competency evaluation, but could not determine if he was competent or not. On Wednesday, La Crosse County Circuit Court Judge Elliot Levine ordered Fuchsel be taken into custody and taken to a facility for an in-patient evaluation.
That evaluation could take up to two weeks. Judge Levine also set bond for Fuchsel at $10,000 cash.
