UPDATE: Woman identified in Winona bridge incident
WINONA, Minn. (WXOW) - The Winona County Sheriff's Department has identified the woman found in the Mississippi River after she either fell or jumped from the Interstate Bridge in Winona Friday morning.
The woman was identified as Karena Kaminer, a 37-year-old Winona woman.
On Friday, Sheriff Dave Brand said law enforcement was alerted to a woman on the bridge, looking out toward the river just before 8 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, a woman was seen floating down the river. By 8:20 a.m., members of the dive team were able to pull the woman's body from the water about 300 yards from the bridge.
Her body was taken to Mayo Clinic in Rochester for an autopsy.
Her death is under investigation.
