La Crosse Central is like many teams in the area, they're looking to replace a lot talent from last season.
But perhaps no team has to replace more than the Red Raiders.
Central has just three starters back from a team that went 8-3, challenged for the MVC title and came within a whisker of knocking off Holmen in the playoffs.
But that won't deter a program that has won 8 games in each of the last two seasons.
"Right now we have a bunch of puzzle pieces and we have to put them together. That's the fun part about coaching. We have a bit of an inexperienced team. But we have a lot of guys who are chomping at the bit to get their opportunity. Some of those guys probably could've had a shot last year. But we were very talented with that senior class," said head coach Tony Servais.
"Summer lifting was good anticipation to come out here. Now that we're out here it feels good to get out here and to get ready for the season," said senior Jerred Ambrose.
The Red Raiders open the season a day earlier than most.
They take on Eau Claire North in Eau Claire on August 21.
