La Crosse, WI (WXOW) Aquinas is gearing up to face it's annual challenge of being the smallest school in the MVC.
Head coach Tom Lee is back for his second season.
Lee and the Blugolds battled through injuries issues last season and ended up with a 3-6 mark.
7 seniors are back from that squad.
If there's a silver lining it's that a lot of younger players got a lot of unexpected experience last season.
Now they want to prove they're battle-tested this year.
"We're just chopping wood. We don't necessarily talk about wins and losses. We talk about the process. We talk about trying to do things right every day. The guys have been out here for a couple of days now with great energy. They're doing what we ask them and we're just trying to get better every day," said Lee.
"We've had guys in the gym working hard in the off-season and 7-on-7. My teammates are really helping me out and I think we're going to look a lot better this season," said junior quarterback Tyler Young.
Aquinas opens the season Thursday, August 22nd against Prairie du Chien.
