Sunday is a vital day for Badgers football players hoping to secure a starting spot this season.
Wisconsin will hold the first of two live scrimmages at Camp Randall, as the season-opener against LSU looms just three weeks away.
Head coach Gary Andersen will have plenty to watch for, since there are numerous position battles all over the field. He hasn't had as much of an opportunity to spectate during practice so far this season since he's been helping to coach the linebackers.
Andersen is not one to shy away from verbal direction, and even likes to get physical.
"It's been a long time since I've been able to do that, be in a position group and be involved with those kids on the field with those individual drills," he said of coaching linebackers.
His players have noticed his presence on and off the field as a coach. Vince Biegel said he continues to be there on the field and in meeting rooms to provide insight to players.
"It's great to have a head coach that we can go to and a guy we can learn from as well," he said.
The Badgers open the season August 30 against LSU.
