Valley View Mall Accepts ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Posted: Updated:
Onalaska, WI (WXOW) - - Valley View Mall in La Crosse accepts the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and sends their nominations to businesses throughout the La Crosse community Wednesday.

Managers at the mall and La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat joined volunteers throughout the community to raise money for ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

The challenge includes dumping ice water upon the person who is nominated and donating to ALS research.

The group hopes to collect $2,000 to $5,000 to donate towards the Wisconsin ALS chapter.

Valley View Mall sends their nominations to Festival Foods, Gundersen Health System and Logistics Health Incorporated. They have 24 hours to complete the challenge.

According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, ALS is when nerve cells waste away or die. When this happens, messages can not be sent to muscles leading to muscle weakening, twitch or inability to move.
