The La Crosse Loggers announced Friday that manager Jason Nell will not return for another season with the team.
Nell guided the Loggers for the past two seasons while compiling a 76-66 record including a 33-39 record in 2014. The team finished with a 21-14 record in the South Division in the first half, only to struggle to a 12-25 record in the second half of the summer. In 2013, he guided the team to 43 wins, second highest in franchise history.
The 2014 season also marked Nell's eighth in the Northwoods League. He came to La Crosse after stints in Mankato and Waterloo. Overall, he's had 249 wins with the three teams, or fourth on the all-time managerial wins list.
Loggers GM Chris Goodell said of Nell, "We were very fortunate to have Coach Nell with us for the past two seasons and are extremely thankful for his contributions to all of our players who donned a Logger uniform during that time. We wish Coach Nell, and his family, nothing but the best in his future endeavors."
Nell continues a head coach at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa.
The team is already working on finding a new manager to replace Nell.
