Osseo area home where shooting took place
Our sister station WQOW News 18 has learned new details in this month's shooting near Osseo that left one man wounded.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Trempealeau County, William Ledford shot Jon Hageness in the upper back, near his collar bone. Hageness told investigators he then pretended to be dead, and that Ledford fired two more shots at him, but missed. Hageness said he felt the bullets go past his ear.
Prior to that, Ledford allegedly forced Hageness at gunpoint to write two checks totaling $5,000. Detectives say he also took Hageness' wallet.
Investigators say Ledford is an uncle of Hageness' wife, and that the couple had told him the day before that he was not welcome at their home.
Ledford was released from prison just ten days before the shooting. He had served five years for burglary. He is now charged with attempted murder and seven other felonies. He is due back in court next week.
