La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -
This year's Festmaster was judged worthy of the title by the Oktoberfest selection committee.
That's because the new Festmaster actually is a judge.
La Crosse County Circuit Court Judge Scott Horne received the title Friday night at the Festmaster's Ball at the La Crosse Center.
Judge Horne said he's honored to become Festmaster because of what the event means to the people of La Crosse. "There are very few festivals that attract every segment of a community. Oktoberfest does that. People from all different part of the community celebrate and take part. It's an honor to be a part of that," said Judge Horne.
As Festmaster, Judge Horne said he's looking forward to helping the Oktoberfest royal family complete the many community service projects done in the coming year.
Along with his Frau Sue, the Horne's also have three boys.
Judge Horne moved to the city 35 years ago to be a law clerk. He became an Assistant District Attorney a few years later. He then was elected as La Crosse County District Attorney in 1985. He's presided as judge since his election in 2007.
